Kim Kardashian breaks down in Paris court after hearing letter from Robber

In a Paris courtroom, American celebrity Kim Kardashian became visibly emotional as she delivered her testimony in the ongoing trial against men accused of robbing her at gunpoint in 2016 during Paris Fashion Week. The high-profile case, which began on April 29, 2025, is being heard by a panel of three judges and six jurors, with the verdict expected on May 23.

Kardashian, who was robbed of valuables including a $4 million diamond engagement ring gifted to her by then-husband Kanye West, along with other jewelry worth a total of $10 million, revealed that the traumatic event still affects her deeply to this day.

During the hearing, the presiding judge read aloud a letter written to Kardashian by Aomar Ait Khedache, one of the accused who had previously admitted to participating in the robbery. The letter, penned in 2017 following his arrest, was described as remorseful and emotionally charged, though it did not contain a direct request for forgiveness.

The letter read:
“After seeing you on French television and witnessing your emotional state, I finally began to understand the pain and trauma I caused you. That’s when I decided to write to you.”

It continued:
“This is not a plea for forgiveness. Rather, I wanted to speak to you human-to-human and express how deeply sorry I am for what I did. It pained me to see you cry… I was distressed by how I affected you, your husband, your children, and all those who love you.”

As the judge read the letter, Kardashian avoided eye contact with the accused and broke down in tears in front of the courtroom. Struggling to maintain composure, she recounted how two men, disguised as police officers, broke into her hotel room. She described feeling an overwhelming sense of fear and noted that escaping the scene was impossible.

“Even though it happened years ago,” she told the court, “the panic I felt then, the thought that I might die — it’s something that never truly leaves you.”

Ten suspects are being prosecuted in connection with the robbery. Two have pleaded guilty, while the rest maintain their innocence. A total of eleven individuals were originally linked to the crime, but one passed away before facing trial.

Kardashian has since publicly stated that she has forgiven those who admitted to their involvement — a gesture that, while deeply personal, raises broader questions about justice, healing, and closure for victims of violent crime.

This case, which captured international headlines at the time of the robbery, has reignited discussions about celebrity security and the emotional toll of high-profile crimes. With judgment pending, the court’s decision is expected to send a significant message on accountability and restorative justice.
